Accessibility

I aim to make this site usable for everyone. This statement explains the measures in place, verification limits and how to report a problem.

The target

The public pages are built to aim at WCAG 2.2 level AA. The site is not certified against it, and I do not claim that it fully meets it.

What is in place

  • A skip link, and menus that work with a keyboard. Escape closes them and returns focus.
  • Visible focus rings on links, buttons and form controls.
  • Text that reflows when enlarged, with colours chosen from calculated contrast ratios.
  • Nothing plays automatically. Small hover effects switch off if your device asks for reduced motion.
  • The department examples on the home page are in the page as text and also work without JavaScript.

Automated checks and manual keyboard, contrast and layout checks help find problems. They do not replace an independent accessibility audit or testing with assistive technology.

What has not been checked

The site has not had an independent audit. It has not been tested on a range of real phones, or with a range of screen readers and voice tools. There may be problems I have not found.
